Suzanne Woomer, ND, L.Ac., Reiki Master

Dr. Woomer is a naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist.  She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine from UBAI.  As a child, Dr. Woomer always dreamed of being a doctor, after the death of her grandfather at a young age.  She wasn’t sure what type of doctor she wanted to be, but the medical field was very appealing. It wasn’t until she suffered from a chronic illness that she discovered the benefits of nutrition.  She attended Millersville University in Pennsylvania, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry & Biology. After graduation, she sought to explore chiropractic medicine.

Dr. Woomer researched many eastern chiropractic colleges.  Her paradigm began to shift once she found the University of Bridgeport’s School of Naturopathic Medicine.  Here she found a description of naturopathic medicine and the modalities within the naturopath’s tool chest.  While embarking on her journey to study naturopathy, she found acupuncture or perhaps acupuncture found her. The sciences and creative possibilities intrigued Dr. Woomer during her studies of naturopathy and acupuncture.  Through both studies, she found a meaningful balance.

Her personal history enables her to understand both perspectives: that being the perspective of the patient and that of the doctor.  Based on her past experience, she understands the frustrations of dealing with a chronic illness while desperately going from specialist to specialist seeking answers.  Her goal as a physician is to uncover the root cause of illnesses through physical exams, dietary dialogue and up to date lab testing. Treatments include homeopathic remedies, supplements, acupuncture and dietary counseling.

Dr. Woomer views the patient-physician relationship as a team.  She can do the investigative work to determine the underlying cause of illness with the expectation that patients meet her halfway.  Come to her with your health goals and we’ll work together to help you meet them.

She seeks to educate.  When patients are informed on the body’s inner workings, it results in better understanding and compliance to treatment plans.  This, in turn, can increase recovery rates. There is no greater reward than a patient’s improved health.
